LILY Muldoon remains the woman to beat in the local running scene as she bagged her second NMI 10km Women’s Run title for the second consecutive year on Saturday morning at American Memorial Park.
Over 100 runners participated in the Northern Marianas Athletics event which was dedicated to the women of the CNMI. The 10km trail started at American Memorial Park and then headed to the G4S Security office in Oleai before heading back.
Last year, Muldoon cleared the course with a time of 00:43:42. This year, she clocked 00:43:59 to clinch first place in the 35-39 age group as well as in the overall category.
In second place overall was Akiko Miller who has also been a dominant force in the local running scene for quite some time now.
This year she was behind Muldoon with a time of 45:03 but finished first in the 50-54 age group.
In third place overall was Dixie Mendenhall, clocking 00:48:33, and finishing first in the open category.
Filling the top five list were Audrey Christley with a time of 00:49:23 and Kate Wilson, 00:50:53.
Category winners
In the U18 age group, Tiana Cabrera reigned with a time of 00:51:12 followed by Aiyuan Pang, 00:53:31; and Miaozhuo, 00:58:08.
In the open category, Dixie Mendenhall was first with a time of 00:48:33; Kate Wilson was second, 00:50:53; and Heather Brook was third, 00:52:45.
In the 35-39 age group, Muldoon led the pack followed by Kathy Ruszala, 00:58:23; and Laarni Zapanta, 01:18:00.
In the 40-44 age group, Audrey Christley came in first with a time of 00:49:23; Ayano Braxton was second, 00:51:37; and Lindsay Nash was third 00:58:22.
In the 45-49 age group, familiar faces ruled. Rosemarie Chisato was first, 00:54:16; Ann Bang was second, 00:57:11; and Julie Hall was third, 01:01:04.
Over all second-place Akiko Miller took over the 50-54 age group with a finish time of 45:03; followed by Jessica Ortizo, 01:12:00; and Mariam Dilse, 01:12:03.
In the 55-59 age group, Lydia Tan was supreme, clocking 00:58:56, and was followed by Ramona Manglona, 01:16:04; and Marie Sablan, 01:17:00.
In the 60-64 age group, Juanita Fajardo was the only participant who cleared the course, clocking 01:28:02.
