35’s pummel 40’s, 96-77

The 35A managed to push past the older and much wiser 40A during the first quarter of the game after team player Ernesto Moises nailed a three pointer reinforced by two jump shots to deposit 7 points for the 35’s.

Bruce Berline and Dante Olivos took a piece of the action and grabbed 4 points a piece to put the 35’s ahead of the game by two points. At the bottom of the quarter the 35’s managed to push through gripping an 18-16 deficit in their favor.

The 35’s cranked it up a notch upon entering the second quarter of the game but they still had a hard time leaving the 40’s in their dust. Moises proved to be too difficult to block from connecting baskets. Moises was able to collar four baskets garnering him 8 points to cheap in to the team.

Marlon Sison and teammate Bruce Berline proved to be tough duos to take down as Sison nailed 6 points followed by Berline’s 5 points to stretch the shaky two point lead to a surer three point gap by half time, 41-38.

The 35’s and the 40’s entered the second half of the exhibition match ready to play some ball. Unfortunately for the latter the former entered the game stronger and finished the game stronger.

Moises playing side by side with teammate Jun Tabora nailed another 6 points a piece to shut the third quarter shut with the confidence of still possessing the driver’s seat of the game.

It was history for the 40’s during the final round of the game, as they were against the ropes and against time as well. Together, the 35’s connected more than 15 baskets together to bring in more than 30 points to hand the upset of the game to the 40’s in the 2011 Masters Basketball Federation of the Northern Marianas Islands’ “Clash of the Titans” exhibition match, 96-77.
