All set for CNMI District Little League Tournament

According to CNMI Little League District Administrator James Ada he had seen a lot of improvement in the skills of players especially in the majors divisions in both Rota and Tinian.

This, he believes, will make this year’s district tournament the most exciting Little League event noting the Rota and Tinian Little Leagues are quickly catching up with that of Saipan.

Ada said Rota’s Little major All-Stars have grown up to be this year’s junior Little Leaguers, ready to face the young sluggers from Saipan. Tinian, as well, he added is having a Big League team this time, and the players were also the All-Stars in the majors five years ago.

Ada also noted the despite less number of players, Tinian and Rota managed to meet the minimum requirement of 12 games per team.

Rota Little League, he said will field teams in major, junior and senior league while Tinian will have majors and big leagues.

The game schedule will be on an Olympic format. In the majors division the top two best records will square-off in the morning of June 22 for the championship crown. In the junior, senior and big league, the best team records will advance to the Asia-Pacific Regional Tournament that will be held in Jakarta Indonesia from July 9 to 15.

The CNMI District Administration acknowledges Tinian Little League president Ignacio Aquinginoc as the tournament director; Joe Kiyoshi as the umpire coordinator; Walter Macaranas as junior league game coordinator; Piding Tenorio, Lyn Duenas, Joe Lizama and AJ Murig as table officials, Lydia Barcinas as food, hosting and logistics, Frank Dela Cruz, Bryan Taitingfong, Donovan Lizama, Mathew Dela Cruz and Juanis King Jr., as the grounds crew and Joyce Flores as the programs committee woman.
