CNMI advances to Junior Little League World Series

The CNMI Junior All-Stars who were on their way back home as of last night now advances to the Little League World Series.

The defending champion, Philippines won only two games — over Hong Kong, 14-7 last June 26 and against Indonesia, 7-2 two days earlier.

The CNMI Junior Little Leaguers who took a fresh start with a 7-4 victory over Indonesia in the opening day of the tournament, lambasted Hong Kong on June 24 with an eight- run lead, 19-8.

They bowed only to Guam sluggers who shut them out, 6-0 last Friday.

The CNMI Junior All-Stars took the lesson seriously. They defeated Guam when they faced in the championship game.

The CNMI Junior All-Stars are Alan Aguon, Aldebert Lizama Jr., Arthur Jebhen, Brian Camacho, Christian Mizer, Francisco Camacho, Henry Rabauliman Jr., Jared Sablan, Jeremy Rabauliman, Joseph Atalig Jr., Lamarc Iguel, Patrick Tenorio Jr., Poland Masaharu Jr., and Ricardo Dela Cruz Jr.

The team is managed by Thelma Mizer. The coach is Oliver Secharmidal and the assistant coach is Bernard Cabrera.

The regional title for the senior division went to the Philippine All-Stars who defeated Guam also by one-run (6-5) to advance to the World Series.

The CNMI Senior All-Stars who also started strong beating Indonesia, 7-3 last Tuesday, lost the chance when Philippines defeated them, 2-1 during the play off round on Saturday.

Big Little Leaguers made it to the championship round but lost to Guam, 9-2.

The CNMI sluggers who shut out Indonesia in the opening game also defeated Philippines, 7-4 on Saturday.
