Esdrelon hands Konflikt 3rd straight win

Esdrelon earned a game-high 27 points, 18 of which came from the second half.

FGC turned the tables only once when Lerio Pagarao connected a hook shot, setting Konflikt behind, 36-37. What they thought was game-changer however, ended in frustration as Kae Bernardo and Banjo Basila missed nearly half their shots in the fourth period.

Konflikt remained undefeated this season with three straight wins. An early-game boost propelled the team 10 points ahead in the first quarter. A period later, FGC still struggled five points behind.

What Esdrelon missed in the second quarter he made up for 10 minutes later, landing his fourth three-pointer after Joyner’s free throw.

Pagarao threw Konflikt off on a series of acrobatic passes and layups but still couldn’t even the match — not with Dave Sablan on the court, who mustered eight points in the second half.

FGC’s Zack Babauta was the first to foul out, leaving him with 11 points. Banjo Basila, who had 17 points, was also ejected after a defensive foul against Abuel. Crippled without two of their fastest men, FGC staggered along in the final minutes.

Joyner and Devero scored 15 points apiece while Sablan totaled 10. Abuel and center Bruce Berline scored nine and four, respectively.

Pagarao led FGC on 19 points. Basila earned 17 and Bernardo scored 14.

Last weekend, Konflikt edged Mobil, 92-84 in overtime while the R-Rebels defeated FGC, 72-66.

Meanwhile, team Northern Marianas College-Proa wiped out an eight-point deficit to sweep Blue Haus-Satbahi, 85-83.

Satbahi cruised away to a 56-48 lead until Marvin Rabauliman’s momentum-changing 15 points in the final period. Pete Iguel and Jack Lizama added eight apiece.

Rabauliman, who scored 32 overall, demolished Satbahi’s defense as Proa tallied 37 points before the last buzzer.

Elgin Mangali and Brandon Talania scored most of Satbahi’s late-game points at 19 and 15, respectively while Ehroll Peredo added one basket.

Proa rested four points behind after the second quarter but found no luck after a similar performance in the third period.

Rabauliman had already scored 12 points from the first half before his game-winning rally. Jack Lizama and Quincy Johnson also packed double digits with 15 and 11 points.
