Kae Bernardo led the Ferreras’ offense once again, scoring 21 points. Also in the spotlight were Ponce Rasa and Luis Abuel, who piled 19 points in the first quarter.
Wings’ center Bruce Berline was steady at the rebound, fending off Ferreras’ Noel David for the ball. He started off with a layup before being fouled. Extra points from Berline and Dennis Morales proved crucial to the team, who were behind 33-12.
With time in his favor, Luis Abuel knocked off a three-pointer from James Abuy’s pass. His 11 points were more than enough to give the Ferreras a jump start.
The Wings Travels retaliated in the second and third quarter, with Tony Diaz making open layups. He had better ball control in the second half, landing seven more points. Daniel Stafford joined Berline in the rebound while Brandon Talania dashed for jumpers.
Despite their efforts, the Ferreras still had the higher ground. The Wings were left in the dust as Jhun Abedes, Abuy, David, and Bernardo shot four successive baskets. Diaz tried his luck with three-pointers, making two in the final quarter.
Bernardo and Abuel double-teamed for the basket, dodging Wings’ Edmark Mendoza and Berline. Rasa and Abuy finished the game with two free throws apiece.
Playing afterward were teams Docomo Pacific and IT&E, whose game was spoiled by rain.
Their match will continue tonight at 7 p.m.
