A total of three teams from Saipan, Korea, and Tinian will compete in tomorrow’s event, coordinated by Budhi Gurung. The tournament will start at 9 a.m. and end at 7 p.m.
Representing Saipan is a combination of MATTA and Korean Ping Pong Association members, which consist of MATTA president Steve Lim, Gurung, Guam’s Hisamitsu Hamamoto, Mr. Park, Mr. Kim, Caw, and Simon Lee.
Team Tinian will include Mark Ma, Luke Lu, Charlie Cheng, Su Yong dong, Robin Lu, Bright Liu, Alfred Yue and Liang Wei Bin.
Each participating team will form two groups of three to four players each. The tournament will have singles, doubles, and team categories, with the first two played in a single-elimination format.
“All the public are also requested to come and watch the competitive games. There is no entry fee,” said Gurung.
Usually held in September or October, the Saipan-hosted tournament was delayed due to Lim’s absence. The competition was last held at Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino, where Korea topped the team and single divisions.
