A member of Korean Top Team, Sung Jung helped train and prepare Trench Tech’s fighters for next Saturday’s Fan Appreciation Night.
“It was awesome having a professional fighter of his caliber at our gym this week,” said TT president Cuki Alvarez.
TT fighters were able to train and spar with a UFC level fighter and he showed us a level of commitment and discipline that a fighter has to be in order to take it to the highest level,” he added.
Sung Jung is known as the ‘Korean Zombie,’ mainly due to his tough chin. He boasts 10 wins and three losses, and has competed in MMA events at Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and the United States of America. He lost his most recent bout last September in Colorado, and is looking forward to win in next month’s Ultimate Fight Night, a subsidiary of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
“I had a very good time. I like the beautiful beach and clean air,” said Sung Jung, who originated from Pohang, a city in South Korea’s North Gyeongsang Province.
During his stay, Trench Tech members were inspired and enlightened by the 23-year-old fighter according to Alvarez. Sung Jung currently trains three times a day, six days a week. He was referred to Alvarez by KTT’s owner, Dogin Ha.
“We now know that he puts in serious hours of training at Korean Top Team. Knowing that, we learned that it takes a great deal of sacrifice and determination to be the best. This will help the mindset of our fighters for FAN and future events,” said Alvarez.
“It is always a great feeling having pro fighters visit TT. We absorb and learn a lot not only by watching, but by asking questions and taking notes, then applying what we learned. One thing about pro fighters is that they are always in great shape, he noted.
Trench Tech is now preparing for its long awaited Fan Appreciation Night, set for Dec. 18 at their gym in San Antonio.
