Pacific Development Inc., administrative manager Mario Espeleta said Obara, his wife Chie and 11 year-old son Hokuto will join the annual race.
The participation of Takumi Obara is part of the Kaike-Tagaman Triathlon exchange program that has been active for six years now.
Last year, Kaike Triathlon was represented by Mieko Carey who placed 4th in the Tagaman Triathlon, Espeleta said.
“As early as this month, we have already received an invitation to the 30th Kaike Triathlon race,” he said.
Takumi Obara won numerous triathlon races and was the representative of Japan in the Sydney Olympics.
Espleta said the Takumi Obara is currently the Health Tourism Producer of Yonago City Tourism Bureau.
His wife, Chie, is also a world class triathlete having participated in the Asian Tournament from 1993-1996 gracing a best record of 2nd place.
Chie has also participated in the 1995 ITU Triathlon World Cup Gagamori race placing 10th place.
Espeleta said that her World Tournament record is 31st place.
“The couples’ son, Hokuto, plans to join the 2010 Taga Kids Triathlon,” he said.
Takumi Obara was born in February 9, 1967 in Tottori Prefecture where the first triathlon in Japan was held in Yonago city in 1981.
Since then, all Japan Triathlon Kaike race has been held yearly and counted the 30th race this year.
Obara established Triathlon Team EFFORTS to raise the top triathletes to the world race from Yonago.
He has won Japan Triathlon Kaike race three times and other triathlon races in Japan.
Obara has conducted the sport exchange for the past few years to send each representative to Tagaman Triathlon in Saipan and all Japan Triathlon Kaike race in Yonago city.
Obara and his wife became the representative triathletes from Japan Triathlon Kaike Race this year to participate 21th Saipan Tagaman Triathlon.
Other achievements of Obara:
1990 – 3rd place in All Japan Triathlon Kaike Race and 4th place in Japan Triathlon Athlete Tournament Hasaki.

1997- 1st place in Japan Cup Series, best athlete in Japan Triathlon Grand Prix, 1st place in ASTC Asia Tournament, and 2nd place in Nagarase river International Triathlon
1998- 1st place in Japan Cup Series and best athlete in Japan Triathlon Grand Prix, 9th place in World Cup Gamagori Race
1999- 1st place in Japan Cup Series 1st Place, best athlete in Japan Triathlon Grand Prix, 1st place in Japan Triathlon Tournament
2000- 21st place in Sidney Olympic, best athlete in Japan Triathlon Grand Prix
2002-8th place in Japan Triathlon Tournament Tokyo Bay race
2004- 1st place in All Japan Triathlon Kaike race
2005-1st place in All Japan Triathlon Kaike race
The Tagaman Triathlon was established by Marianas Visitors Authority personnel in 1988 and is the longest running race in the western Pacific.
The event route includes the 2K swim that will begin at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan at 5:30 a.m. before transitioning to the 60K biking section.
The 15K run section begins at Micro Beach, where runners will race along Beach Rd. to the bus stop at Oleai Beach Bar & Grill and back, as well as through American Memorial Park.
There are cash prizes for the top six male and female finishers and trophies for age group winners.
