The table tennis tournament dubbed as the Yamada Cup lured in 17 participants, wherein they were divided into two round-robin pools, Pool A and B, with the top three from each pool advancing to a single elimination round.
As the matches heated up on the final stages of the Sunday sport event, grabbing the title for the exciting games of table tennis went to Pool A winner Tomo Odai, who used his powerful forehand and tricky long-piped rubber to go undefeated, at 8-0. Second place went to the tireless Charles Choi, a Pool A runner-up. Third went to Abba Ngiruos, a Pool B winner, who was upset by Choi in the semifinals. Fourth place went to Orachel Watanabe, Pool B runner up, who is finding her form ahead in preparations for the upcoming Micronesian Games in August.
The sportsmanship award went to Kevin Bennardo, who despite going winless in six matches showed his class by graciously congratulating each of his opponents and wishing them good luck in the later rounds.
