With Cuki Alvarez and Nelson Samson controlling the opening part of the game, Grease Lightning secured a six-point cushion towards the end of the first quarter.
Lansang and Rebuyon went into scoring surge firing nine and eight of their total points respectively in the second quarter to lead Shakir’s rally to a four-point lead.
Lansang sizzled with a total of 17 points in the first half alone, as he and Rebuyon engaged in a shooting showdown against Alvarez and Samson who scored 12 and eight points respectively during the same period.
While Shakir’s Realty’s offense went lopsided in the third quarter, Samson and George Villasan carried out perfectly, a series of fast breaks with Alvarez clamping on the Realtors’ offense, helping the Grease Lightning closed the gap.
Samson exhausted all his foul credits in a desperate attempt to hold Shakir’s Realty back. He had to exit the court after committing his fifth foul but not before adding five more points to his scores.
The Realtors did not let loose of the momentum as Lansang and Rebuyon continued the surge sizzling with 14 and 10 points respectively and finished off Grease Lightning, 75-63.
IT&E 72, Below the Rim 56
The IT&E also went for a five-game sweep last Sunday pounding Below the Rim with 16 points.
Below the Rim managed to pace with power house IT&E as Yasu Irinaka hit a pair of three-pointer to end the first quarter in a tie.
This prompted IT&E put grip on Below the Rim’s offensive in the following hours, and never dared to give away again.
IT&E’s John Palacios and Edsel Mendoza duplicated Irinaka’s feat as Bruce Berline and Ernie Fernandez combined eight points to widen IT&E’s lead.
Mendoza went into shooting rampage hitting 11 points to lead IT&E in pounding Below the Rim in the final quarter. IT&E kept the strong defense allowing only Eric Atalig, Gilbert Cabbadu and Burt Suda score a measly six points.
