Stormz face Whispering Palms in semifinals

Team WPS headed against the Grace Christian Academy Eagles in game one, losing to them 24-26 in the first set.

WPS’ Negahr Rastguiy was double teamed by two Eagles players, but later fought back with two successive kills.

Rastguiy was helped by Danny Auther in the second set, stopping the Eagles from their four point lead. Auther’s overhand serves proved deadly for the Eagles, who were left behind by 12-7. WPS’ Gabrielle Race and Lucy Park took the game to the final set, crushing the Eagles at 25-16.

The Eagles grabbed a 5-3 lead at first, but Team WPS took them out after winning by 15-11.

The MBA Stormz also had a close game against Seventh Day Adventist School. Both teams fought until the third set, where MBA struck an easy 13 points.

With a final kill, the Stormz triumphed against team SDA by 15-11. The Stormz weren’t so lucky in the first set, after losing by 23-25.

SDA’s Hatsuko Bearden and Tyler Palacios were outsmarted by the Stormz in the second set, leaving them 10 points behind.

The Stormz will be facing team WPS tomorrow in game two of COPSSA’s semifinal round. Saipan International School Team A will be going against Saipan Community School in game one.

WPS ended their regular season with a strong 11W-5L record, while MBA had 10W-5L.
