With seven mixed canoe teams signed up for the 250m and 500m Outrigger Canoe challenge namely; Team 39ers, Team Riverside, Team PCC, Team Just 4 Fun, Team Charlie’s Angels, Team Billabong, and Team Hillside, who was all hyped, equipped, and ready for the rough waters at Riptide Beach.
However, it was team Hillside who showed their eagerness to win when their team never skipped a beat on the 250 m to finish the course in the shortest time of 1:19:02 en route to seize first place followed by team Just 4 Fun, who had fun paddling their way to second with a time of 1:23:16. Then on third place, Team Charlie’s Angels crossed the marked bouey at 1:25:19, while being trailed by team Billabong to settle for fourth with a time of 1:25:41.
For the 500 m category, it was again team Hillside who rhythmically paddled their way to leave their competitors behind as they reached the finish line number at a time of 3:00:71. Following them was team Charlie’s Angels who got second place when they clocked in at 3:08:28 then shadowed by team Billabong who came in with a time of 3:13:53. Fourth spot goes to team Just 4 Fun when they were able to finish the course at 3:17:40.
