The 17-year-old junior golfer along with two other newbies, former Rep. Martin Ada and Ton Camacho received a warm welcome from the RGA members.
Yi Piao also greeted the RGA family with a strong beginning as he managed to keep pace with ace golfer, Jess Wabol and Ed Tenorio who also went one stroke behind Asterio Tawanpiy in the front nine.
The RGA’s new young gun shot 3-over par 39 in the front nine and finished with 65 net beating Ulysses Kapileo’s qualifying net of 68.
Yi Piao slowed down to 6-over par 42 in the back nine but his 15 handicap kept him ahead of everybody.
Ed Tenorio who tied with Nick Guerrero in 69 net, got the second place on a scorecard playoff. Guerrero struggled in the back nine to settle for the third place.
Also making it to the top five were Tars Olopai who had a net of 70 and Jesse Seman, 71. Both of them were seven-handicapper and went par 36 in the back nine.
Seman led Olopai by one stroke in the front nine.
