The group of young Japanese cagers and cagebells who are expected to arrive next week are composed of 12 girls 14 years old and under and six boys 16 years old and under.
Their team name is Settsu Red Impulse.
They are said to be a group of under privileged youth from Osaka Japan who are preparing for a school league there.
White said it is going to be the first time that these young basketball players will ever see Saipan.
The friendship games, White said will be held at the Marianas High School on March 26 and 27.
“Everything is set,” White said referring to the friendship game which he said is BANMI’s opportunity to forge sport exchange relationship with Japan and will gradually enhance Saipan further to be sports tourism destination.
White said BANMI had the chance to work it out with Mr. Sagakuchi, a frequent visitor of CNMI.
He said they have already prepared a team of boys and girls who will play with the Japanese visitors. They are some of the high school teams.
The girls’ team particularly will be the selection of Marianas Island Sports Organization.
“We plan to play nicely with them and have some fun,” White said.
