RICK Kautz topped the April Ace of the Month Tournament of the Saipan Golf Association on April 16 at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort east course.
Kautz performed well throughout the day, thanks to his great ball placements and precision finishes to close the front nine with a gross of 37. Although he struggled slightly in the transition to the back nine, he maintained a steady swing to notch a score of 39 for a gross total of 76. With a handicap of 12, his net score was 64.
In second place was Alex Tudela who edged Ed Manibusan in the score-card playoff.
Tudela shot a gross of 40 on the front nine and 42 on the back for a total gross of 82. With an 11 handicap, his net score was 71.
Manibusan, who ended in third place, had a gross of 40 on the front nine and 39 on the back for a total gross of 79. His handicap of eight gave him a net score of 71.
For the Closest to the Pin optional play, Kautz led the list on hole #4; Nick Sablan ruled hole #6; Larry Deleon Guerrero was supreme on hole #11; and Joe Sablan triumphed on hole #15.
For the Longest Drive, Das Krishnan clinched hole #5 while Mariano Fajardo reigned on hole #10.
Kautz now joins SGA’s other 2023 Ace of the Month winners: Ray Salas (January), Das Krishnan (February), and Joe Sablan (March).
The SGA 2023 May Ace of the Month Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, May 21, at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort west course. Show time is 9 a.m. and tee time is at 9:30 a.m.
