Softball: Hagu Lamun outplays Ameliik 15-8

HAGU Lamun remains one of the top contenders in the Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League 2022 after beating Ameliik, 15-8, Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.

After allowing no hits, Hagu Lamun established control thanks to Glen Camacho’s single which brought in Dennis Cruz and Eric Tudela for two RBIs. Camacho reached home himself with the help of Rodney Camacho’s sacrifice play for a 3-0 lead.

Hagu Lamun’s lead continued to grow as two more runs were added in the next two innings.

Down 0-5, Ameliik finally found their rhythm at bat in the top of the fourth inning, scoring six runs.

Taylor Germance acted as Ameliik’s sparkplug  as he notched a two-run homer while Owen Tagabuel kept the fire burning with a two-RBI single. Jesus Takawo and Stanley Aldan then earned an RBI each before Hagu Lamun could stop the bleeding with Ameliik in the lead, 6-5.

But Hagu Lamun retaliated with three runs courtesy of DeShawn’s homer to regain the lead, 8-6.

Ameliik’s Germance hit his second homer of the day in the top of the fifth inning, but Hagu Lamun bagged two runs in the bottom of the fifth to stay afloat, 10-8.

Hagu Lamun then prevented Ameliik from scoring while adding two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, and five more in the seventh to triumph, 15-8.

SUFA vs Momma Charu

Joining the winner’s circle was SUFA which slipped past Momma Charu, 9-8.

Both teams completed the opening inning at a 4-4 stalemate. However, in the top of the third and fourth innings, Momma Charu squeezed in two runs each to take the lead, 8-4.

Momma Charu seemed to have the win in the bag but SUFA never gave up and were rewarded in bottom of the sixth inning when Jude Dickenson, Frankie Hocog and Tom Camacho racked in an RBI each to tie the game, 8-8.

In the seventh and final inning, SUFA quickly executed three outs with no hits allowed while Jude Dickenson connected the game-winning single, bringing home Jim Hocog safely to snatch the win off Momma Charu’s hands, 9-8.
