Pelelius await Sai Pals in softball tourney

The PCA held a total of eight games on Saturday and Sunday, with the Pelelius celebrating their first victory against the Hitters. Unlike the other teams, the Hitters consisted of an all-women team who are also the Belau Women’s Softball League’s defending champions.

“The only rule change when playing the Hitters is that the men have to bat with their weak side,” said PCA President Rufino Aguon.

The Pelelius proved Aguon’s point after suffering from errors during their match against the Hitters. Eventually, the Pelelius picked up speed and won by 15-3.

The Pelelius weren’t out of fuel yet, especially after sweeping the Asahis off their feet by 8-0 last Saturday.

Sai Pal, the tournament’s current defending champs, put up a good fight during their game against the Pelelius on Sunday. Unfortunately, even the Sai Pals couldn’t afford to overcome the Pelelius’ better offense.

Last Saturday, the tournament also scheduled matches between the Hilitais and Asahis and the Sai Pals and Hoopshaholics. The Asahis crushed the Hilitais by 14-4, while the Sai Pals conquered the Hoopshaholics by 14-6.

On Sunday, the Hilitais redeemed themselves after defeating the Hitters by 4-2 in a very close game. The Hilitais won their second consecutive game when they defeated the Hoopshaholics by 11-5. Unfortunately for the Hoops, they quickly burnt out after scoring five points in the first two innings.

Asahis ended Sunday’s games after playing a perfect 5-0 game against the Hilitais.

The Asahis and Sai Pals now wait for their upcoming game this Sunday, 11 am, which will continue at Dan Dan Softball Field. The Pelelius, who now hold a ‘twice to beat’ advantage, will be facing the winner between the two teams.
