“We have received and collected $53,000 in cash from our generous sponsors that will all go to the educational efforts of the Northern Marianas College,” said NMC Foundation vice president Ivan Quichocho.
Quichocho said they wanted to make sure that they extend their gratitude to the sponsors for helping the only post-secondary school on island.
The golf tournament not only received cash donations from its sponsors, the tournament also received in-kind donations raffled off as prizes. Some prizes amounted to $1,000.
“In excess of $76,000 in cash and prizes we have other raffle prizes up for grabs for our raffle drawing,” added Quichocho.
NMC interim president Lorraine Cabrera said, “I would like to thank you for participating in the 9th Annual foundation. For our sponsors we really wish to thank you for all the cash donation, in-kind donations, and raffle prizes.”
Moreover, NMC Foundation President Vicente “Ben Babauta” acknowledged the support of the players.
“Thank you again for participating in our 9th Annual tournament. Without you guys it would not have been a success. We had an amazing turnout of 144 golfers. Two days ago we were at 91 [players],” said Bababauta.
He also thanked the sponsors and volunteers for making the tournament a success. He also thanked Laolao Bay Golf Resort for hosting the NMC Foundation’s tournaments.
Other companies that donated to NMC’s golf tournament include Dial Rent-to-Own who donated, $5,000; McDonald’s Saipan owner Jose C. Ayuyu donated $5,000; Continental Airlines, six round-trip tickets to be awarded to top finishers in each flight; Saipan Computer Services, $5,000; G4S, $2,000; Caronel Watch Center, $2,000; Toothworks, $5,000; whole Open Choice Dental Plan, $2,000; Country House Restaurant and Moby Dick Restaurant, $2,000; and IT&E, $5,000.
Marianas Variety was also a sponsor of the event.
