Flosse’s party loses two more top members

Former Health Minister Jacques Raynal and Minister of Environmental Resources Teva Rohfritsch both resigned from the  party.

Raynal stepped down from Oscar Temaru’s new government last Friday as requested by Gaston Flosse but Rohfritsch and another Tahoeraa huiraatira member, Minister of the Rural Economy Frédéric Riveta chose to remain with government.

The Tahoeraa huiraatira executive committee suspended Rohfritsch and Riveta, saying they could not be part of government now that the party was in the opposition.

Tahoeraa huiraatira Secretary General Bruno Sandras, one of Tahiti’s two French National Assembly deputies, promptly resigned after this decision.

Former minister Jacques Raynal and Minister of Environmental Resources Teva Rohfritsch did the same. They said they could not express their ideas anymore within the party.

Sandras plans to remain one of Tahiti’s two French National Assembly deputies. He announced Thursday that he will create a new pro-autonomy party.

Sandras claimed more than 20 top Tahoeraa huiraatira executives have either been excluded or voluntarily left the party in four years.
