Yesterday, George was brought to the Superior Court for his initial appearance and bail hearing.
Judge David A. Wiseman retained the $1,750 bail on George who was charged with assault, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
George was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing.
Assistant Attorney General Russel Lorfing represented the government while Chief Public Defender Adam Hardwicke was appointed as George’s counsel.
The victim earlier secured a one-year protection order from George as ordered by the Superior Court, according to Detective Peter Aldan.
On Aug. 8, at about 9:04 a.m., the victim, a Japanese national, reported a disturbance at her unit at the Saipan Grand Hotel staff housing in Susupe.
Aldan learned from the victim the domestic violence incidents involving her and George whom the victim first dated in Nov. 2009.
The first incident occurred sometime in Feb. 2010 when George and the victim had an argument. George threatened to drive off Banzai Cliff with the victim “to show her how much he loves her,” Aldan said.
On several occasions, George drove recklessly and threatened to crash the vehicle with her in it after the victim declined to spend the night at his apartment, Aldan said.
In another incident, he added, George drove the victim to Ladder Beach, where the defendant threatened to hang himself with a rope “to show her how much he loved her.”
On Aug. 11, 2010, George accused the friend of his brother of having a relationship with the victim.
George threatened to kill himself with a knife, Aldan said.
The next day, the victim said she was awakened by George’s honking his rented vehicle.
Because of what had happened the previous night and the past domestic violence history of George, the victim feared that the defendant “might go crazy again.”
Her friend called for police assistance as George started banging on her bedroom window.
When police arrived, the victim ended her relationship with George, and informed authorities she wanted him “to leave her alone at her home and work.”
George was not arrested. He complied when police told him to go home.
On Oct. 13, 2010, at about 8:56 p.m., the victim reported a domestic incident involving her and George at the Fishing Base in Garapan.
George had been calling the victim, inviting her to have dinner with him. When the victim refused, George threatened to kill himself, “her friends, and anyone preventing her from having dinner with him,” Aldan said.
“Fearing for the life of other people and only after Lucian said it was the last time they were to have dinner together, and that he would not do anything stupid, [the victim] agreed,” Aldan said.
George and the victim met at Misoya Restaurant in Garapan, where George started to threaten that he would kill the victim’s friends, her coworkers, and her family “and make this table fill with blood,” Aldan said.
When the victim did not react, George punched the table and asked the victim, “Do you want me to show much I love you?” Aldan said.
Out of fear, the victim took her mobile phone, and asked for help, but George grabbed the phone away, Aldan said.
George also grabbed the victim by her shirt after she stood up to pay the bill, Aldan added.
A couple who were friends of the victim offered her a ride and to drop George home too.
While in the car, George opened the door and threatened to jump out, saying he wanted to walk home.
When victim’s friend pulled over at the Garapan Fishing Base, the victim stepped out, but George placed both his hands beside the victim, preventing her from going anywhere, Aldan said.
According to Aldan, after telling her he didn’t want to lose her, George grabbed the victim’s neck, choked her, and pinned her against the car while the victim told him, “No more, no more relationship.”
As the victim started crying in fear, the victim’s friend shouted, and George walked away, Aldan said.
