From Sept. 20 to 30, SHEFA administrator Henry Hofschneider said his office reviewed and considered 224 applications and found 187 to be complete and eligible.
He said they need $272,400 for the 187.
As of Oct. 4, SHEFA received 803 applications of which 601 were reviewed.
Of the total applications, 448 were found eligible, Hofschneider told the board.
He said the 448 will receive $745,500 in total disbursements — $438,000, grant-in-aid; $127,000, field of study; and $180,500, incentives.
There are 207 pending applications for review.
Of the 153 ineligible applications, 56 are new applicants and 58 are ongoing from on-island. Nine are new and 29 are ongoing from off-island. All of them are undergraduates.
Only one of the 153 is an ongoing SHEFA recipient from off-island.
On Oct. 6 the committee on awards reviewed the list of 187 applicants and recommended to the board their approval.
Hofschneider said the board approved the first eligibility list during its Sept. 19 meeting which contained 261 names of eligible applicants.
He said the list was delivered to the Department of Finance for check processing on Sept. 20.
