Kabiriel repeats title at Radar Run

Kabiriel, also last year’s champion, stormed to the finish line in 37 minutes and 32 seconds to place first overall and in the men’s division.

His record in 2010 — 35 minutes and 23 seconds — still proved to be the fastest time.

Women’s champion Mamiko Berger trailed Kabiriel by less than two minutes, coming in at 38:44. She placed second last year next to Mieko Carey, who is currently off island for the XTERRA World Championship in Maui, Hawaii.

Ronald Villafria, who ended a year-long break from running, posted 40 minutes and 53 seconds to rank second in the men’s division. Chad Lowe finished in third place at 44:26.

Kim Young followed Berger as the women’s division’s first runner up with 49:12. Irma Halaby and Roxie Lamar tied for third place with 55 minutes and 16 seconds.

Kaisei Toda claimed the youth division title with 56:41.

Runners pushed uphill towards the radar station in Marpi before returning to Pau Pau Beach.

Top finishers received medals in addition to other prizes and race certificates.
