QQ league nears championship series

Teams Ferrera Builders, Docomo Pacific, Wings Travel, and IT&E are currently battling it out in the semifinals, eliminating six teams along the way.

“We are very pleased and happy about the support and good feedback of the community and local sports fans about our league,” said League Director Rey Perez in an email.

“That’s why we try to improve further and develop much discipline with all basketball players playing in [the] CNMI.

Setting the high standard in playing outdoor basketball is very hard to achieve but with the cooperation of all teams, coaches, and team managers, it is achievable,” he added.

The league kicked off on August 28 at the Gilbert C. Ada gymnasium before working its way to Garapan basketball court. Accompanying the championship series next week are a variety of shows, an awarding ceremony, and games.

“We trying to target the best of three championship series this November 24 at 7 p.m. We invite [the] local community [and] tourists to watch this exciting basketball game in Garapan next week,” said League Commissioner Marlon Sison.

A trophy and $1,500 cash prize will be given to the winning team, with gift items worth $500 going to individual awardees. The organizers would like to thank James Hann, Ray Lizama, Pyke Sabino, Jess Pabula, Boy Garcia, Walter Abunga, Romeo Oliveros, Kermit Conception, Archie Velasco, and Rolly Paraiso.
